MONA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

UPDATE ON MONA 9/1/09: Mona was too active for her leg to be splinted, so our veterinarian had to insert a plate in her leg to keep the bone in place and prevent further fracturing.

Meet sweet Mona, a beautiful and loving 8-month old red nosed pit bull. This girl was brought to the shelter by several kids who found her as a stray. Somewhere along the way, Mona received an injury to her front right leg and she arrived to us with a severe limp, not able to bear any weight on it.

Knowing that Mona would likely be euthanized at the city shelter due to her injuries, we could not leave her there. A volunteer immediately brought her to our veterinary hospital, where she is currently getting the much needed treatment for her broken leg.

Mona’s leg has a severe fracture in it that she received in the last 1-2 days. Sadly, our veterinarian believes the injury was caused by a baseball bat or a similar object striking her. Her leg is currently being splinted and she will need to be spayed in addition. As an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Pet Rescue of Mercer relies heavily on your donations to continue saving lives. We desperately need your support to save Mona. Contributions can be made online through our website www.petrescueofmercer.org or mailed directly to us at Pet Rescue of Mercer, P.O. Box 2574, Hamilton, NJ 08690.

Mona is friendly with other dogs, but especially loves people. She has been a wonderful patient thus far and hopefully soon, will make a great companion for a lucky family.

Adopt Dakota!

Meet Dakota! This sweet little 6-month old bubbly pitty mix has a lot of love to give. Dakota was brought to a local shelter with a severe case of demodectic mange from head to toe. She still has some scabs and sores, and has a lot of hair to grow back, but she is doing well with her treatment. Despite her condition, she has a great personality and loves being a silly puppy. She's a cuddler and will sit right on top of you while watching tv. She loves dogs and really loves to play with cats...if only they would play back! She loves her toys, especially balls and is learning how to play catch. She hasn't quite caught on to catching it in her mouth yet, but she will gladly give the ball back to keep trying. Dakota is crate trained, potty trained, and knows how to sit, stay and come. She is willing to learn so much more. Dakota would love to go to a home that will enjoy her spunky personality and let her be the fun puppy she loves being.
